ZOOM Whitening

If you prefer teeth that are immediately whiter, ZOOM may be your answer! ZOOM In-Office Whitening System whitens your teeth an average of eight shades* in approximately 2 hours while you relax in the dental chair. It’s ideal for anyone who wants immediate results. And you may go even lighter with additional applications.

What is ZOOM tooth whitening?

ZOOM is a whitening process that lightens discoloration of enamel and dentin with the use of 40% hydrogen peroxide power whitening gel. The active ingredients pass into your teeth to oxidize the discolored molecules deep down in your teeth, removing stains and whitening your smile.

What can cause tooth discoloration?

There are many causes. The most common include aging and consumption of staining substances such as coffee, tea or tobacco. During tooth formation consumption of tetracycline, certain antibiotics or excessive fluoride may also cause tooth discoloration.

Who may benefit from tooth whitening?

Just about anyone can benefit from tooth whitening. However, treatment may not be as effective for some as it is for others. With an oral exam, the dentists can determine if you are a candidate for this procedure, including a shade assessment.

Is tooth whitening safe?

Yes, research and clinical studies indicate that whitening teeth under the supervision of a dentist is safe. In fact, many dentists consider whitening the safest cosmetic dental procedure available. As with any tooth whitening product, ZOOM is not recommended for children under 13 years of age and pregnant or lactating women.

Do the results last a long time?

By following some simple post whitening care instructions, your teeth will always be lighter than they were before and should last months to years depending on your personal habits such as smoking and drinking coffee or tea. At this point some touch-up at home whitening may be needed.

Is there any difference between over-the-counter tooth whiteners and ZOOM?

Yes! Consulting with one of the dentists is always the first step to whitening your teeth safely. Over-the-counter tooth whitening strips, brush-on gels and toothpastes take weeks or months to whiten your teeth just a few shades.

Are there any side effects?

Several studies, during the past five years, have proven whitening to be safe and effective. The American Dental Association has granted its seal of approval to some tooth whitening products. Some patients may experience slight gum irritation or tooth sensitivity, which will resolve when the treatment ends.

How long is the procedure?

The entire procedure takes a maximum of 2 hours in the hygiene chair. The hygienist will give you after-care instructions after the procedure along with take-home whitening trays.
